Make sure you read part 1 before going any further.
Before actually putting crayon to paper take a moment to go within.
Close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Those breaths signal the mind/body/spirit that you are about to shift into a meditative state and access what lies beyond your five physical senses. Set your intention to reveal your life purpose here and now.
Does that sound too woo woo for you? Well, do it anyway, okay? That is how meditation works and this exercise is a different kind of meditation.
Ready now? Feel calmer and more centered?
Terrific! Now grab one or more crayons and start moving it on the paper. Just let it go where your hand wants to take it. NO THINKING! Thinking takes you off track. Thinking opens the gates of the conscious mind and you lose your spontaneity and direct access to your subconscious mind.
Keep drawing. You may just see squiggles. You may see only lines. Maybe you will color in areas. Maybe you will create something recognizable. Whatever comes up is telling you what you want you to know. Yes, it may come in a rather esoteric form. Still, your answers will flow onto the paper.
To share something personal about this experience…
All my life I’ve been a writer and artist. When I write, paint or sculpt I often have no clue what I am out to create. I go with the flow and allow the Universe to create through me. After I feel my work is done I step back to see what I made.
One of my abstracts is called The Conversation—3 people sitting around a table talking and playing cards. One is a flower—only really it is a hippie with my comment about the meaning of the words “peace” “love”’ and “truth” as I defined those terms in the 1960s.
Catch my drift? I write, sculpt and paint to see what I am thinking—or, on a deeper level, where I am now and where I am going in life. The very cool result of creating in this manner? Something I made 30 or 40 years ago has huge meaning today, Because I allowed my Spirit to reveal itself at that time, and because my Spirit knows my past, [resent and future, my works contain messages that apply to me throughout my life.
When you allow your Spirit to come through, as described in this exercise, you will get the same result. By intending for revelation of your life purpose your Spirit will deliver that answer for you. You may need to sit with your finished work for a while. I guarantee you will “see” what you want to know.
